We will use this website (writingwithdrp.com) and Blackboard for this course.
Course website: writingwithdrp.com -- From here, you access your syllabus at any time without having to login. It's user-friendly, mobile optimized, and works on all device types. I recommend adding the course website to your Favorites.
Also, please let me know as soon as possible if a link isn't working! I'll fix it as quickly as I can.
Blackboard: This space is used to share announcements with the class; access course content; upload assignments; class discussions; view grades/work, etc.
Email: All email communication for this course will be through cmich.edu. It is vital that you check your CMU email daily. When you e-mail me, please use complete sentences. Include a salutation, state your concern, and sign your e-mail with your name. Please treat email as a formal and professional communication mechanism. I will address you and treat you as adults (both in person and through email), and I expect the same in return. I will not respond to emails that are impolite, disrespectful, or without appropriate grammar.Â
Webex: the link and passcode will be provided when you sign up for an appointment. We will use CMU's Webex for online meetings (virtual office hours, individual conferences, etc.). You do not have to keep your camera on although I encourage you to upload a class appropriate image for your "square." It really is hard to teach/talk to a screen full of black boxes with names.
Textbooks: I don't use a lot of "hard copy" textbooks, and all materials will be OER (open educational resources) for this course.
Working Bibliography of Online Readings and Videos -- a Google doc with a list of OER materials that may be used in the course. The list is updated periodically so additional readings and videos may be included throughout the semester even if they are not yet on the working bibliography.
Courses meet two days each week for 1 hour and 20 minutes each class period. Please make sure to check Blackboard for your time, days, and locations. Since this is a public website, I do not post that information here.
