Canine TA's, Rosie and Annie, are ready for online classes and meetings!
CMU's Online Learning Resource Center offers general guidelines and sound advice for building online learning communities that are reciprocal, respectful, accountable, and relational. Please adhere to these guidelines in any online meetings and interactions in our course.
Do what you can to engage in class or office hours in a way that is most realistic and effective for you and minimizes distractions for others. That means:
Engage in class wherever you like or however you can. Sitting on an unmade bed is fine. Hanging out at a Wifi hotspot in a parking lot is fine.
Cameras are optional, although it is nice to see you once in a while. :-) Consider adding a photo, avatar, or other class-appropriate image to your Webex profile if you'd prefer not to use your camera.
Kids, pets, and other members of your household in the background or on your lap are welcome. My kiddos and our canine TAs, especially Annie, occasionally make appearances, too. (Okay, Annie is *always* present during our classes and meetings!)
Dress however you like. Pajamas are welcome. Messy hair is fine.
Eating during class or office hours is fine. (Just be aware of muting your mic to minimize sharing eating noises with others.)
